Fly Fishing for Trout.
Situated within the environs of the magnificent Sappi Usutu
forests (one of the largest man made forests in the world), are thirteen
still waters belonging to the Usutu Forest Fly Fishing Club, arguably
the finest stocked trout waters in the northeastern section of southern
Africa. There are waters to suit anyone from
beginners
to masters of the craft. We can provide all necessary equipment and technical
advice and guide you to the very best spots. We can even provide open
kayaks, to help you access the places other anglers cannot reach. Trout
as big as 3.5 kilos have been caught in the forest, providing excellent
sport, a most relaxing day, and the source of many fishermen's tales.
Alternatively (or as well as) we can take a short hop through the border
into South Africa and visit Dolstrom. Dolstrom is a peaceful and serene
town, which has over the years developed a reputation world wide and has
become something of a Mecca for South African fly fishermen. There is
an almost bewildering choice of well stocked trout ponds to choose from,
and good quality accommodation is available to allow the very keen to
catch the morning and evening rise. Tight lines!!
Dolstrom also has several curio and antique shops as well as the inevitable
tackle shops and an excellent bird of prey centre that host demonstration
flights twice daily.
Fly Fishing for Yellowfish.
The hunt for the indigenous Yellowfish is one of the fastest
growing interests within the sport of fly-fishing. Yellowfish are considered
to be three times as strong, pound for pound as Rainbow Trout. They have
a reputation for torpedo like runs and incredible stamina, this combined
with river conditions, makes for extreme sport.
Of Tigers in Africa.
Yes, there are wild Tigers in Africa, in fact anyone who has
done battle with a sizeable Tiger fish will bear testament as to just
how wild! The Tiger fish must be the most voracious and esteemed of all
fresh water game fish, they are the perfect predator and probably the
most beautiful fish I have had the pleasure of catching and releasing.
Once hooked, you can expect the Tiger to make warp speed runs, time and
time again, often leaping high into the air giving flashing glimpses of
silver, red and yellow. This amazing fishing experience is available in
Swaziland. Boat, equipment, bait and refreshments can be arranged. Our
favorite water borders a private game farm and its not uncommon
to see various buck come down to drink, or hippo in the water whilst you
fish. It also has an extensive bird population, including the Jacana,
so there is plenty to do while waiting for that screaming reel!
There
are far more fishing opportunities available in Swaziland than the few
examples given here. You can fish for Bass, Bream, Barbel (Catfish) and
Carp as well as the Trout, Yellow fish and Tiger fish. We can also arrange
a trip to the coast in South Africa, or an incredible fishing safari at
Inhaca island Mozambique which stretches the potential species list to
almost endless proportions. So if you and your family, or a group of friends
would like to come and sample some of the best fishing in the world, or
mix and match with game viewing and other tours, it's all here for you!!
