Hlane Natural Reserve

His Majesty King Mswati III holds Hlane National Park in trust for the nation and once a year hosts the Royal Hunt. It is Swaziland's largest protected area and is situated in the Low veldt. Largely flat in character it boasts ancient indigenous hardwood forests of giant Leadwood,Tambuti and Knobthorn.
There are various ways to explore Hlane; a walking safari with a Swazi Ranger often brings the walker into close contact with Elephant and Rhino as well as a variety of other game. You can also take a Ranger guided game drive to see Lion, Leopard and Cheetah for an unforgettable big cat experience.
As well as the big cats, Rhino and Elephant, Hlane supports large herds of Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Kudu, Warthog, Duiker, Steenbok, Nyala, Bushbuck and Waterbuck. There are also populations of Baboon and Vervet monkeys. There are excellent bird watching opportunities as Hlane is home to the largest populations of birds of prey in the kingdom, including Bateleur and Martial eagles and no less than five species of vulture. There are good camping facilities at Hlane, or you may choose to see it in conjunction with Mlawula with an overnight stay there.
