The Gap.
An off road adventure leads you through rural Swaziland enjoying the majestic scenery. A short walk then takes you down to the mighty Komati River and the amazing geological event that is the Gap. With the river passing through rock formations dated at over 400 million years old, the river takes asharp turn and plunges down a deep channel no more than a couple of meters wide with viewing points guaranteed to get your blood flowing as swiftly as the Komati. Then further downstream to a pool with a sandy beach, where you can take a cooling swim and enjoy cool drinks with a light packed lunch which is provided. A reasonable level of fitness is required to get the most from The Gap, as there is a certain amount of rock scrambling involved in reaching the best view points.
Mdzimba Mountain Experience.
A privileged opportunity to visit with a traditional Swazi family in their homestead, for most an eye opening and humbling experience, as you are made genuinely welcome. There may be an opportunity to see the mystic Sangoma (Swazi traditional healer) and possibly have your future told by the throwing of the bones. Then a short mountain trail walk is rewarded on a clear day with unrivalled views over Ezulwini Valley and beyond. On the way back down the mountain we can experience the historic "leopard cave", it was to this cave and many others like it that the Swazis fled when threatened by the mighty Zulu nation to the South.
Sibebe Rock Trail.
Sibebe is an incredible geological spectacle, lying only a few minutes
from Mbabane, it is reputed to be the largest single piece of granite
on earth. This mighty monolith can be conquered either as a rugged four
by four drive, or by the slightly more adventurous, in the safe hands
of a local guide, as a hike. Whichever you choose you will enjoy the enormity,
tranquility and beauty of the rock. Whilst enjoying the seemingly endless
views across Swaziland, we will provide a light packed lunch and cool
drinks. There is an abundance of fascinating plant and bird life and we
may even see the enchanting spectacle of the herds of wild horses that
live on the grassy plains atop Sibebe.
